| WHAT IS
DORSET CRIMEBEAT? Simply put it's a fund that gives money to young people who have a good idea about how to improve their community. |
|
Dorset Crimebeat enables young people to participate on
issues that are of direct concern to them. The
strength of Dorset Crimebeat is in providing a
financial incentive for young people to produce
and put into effect their own ideas of how to
make their community a safer and better place to
live. Dorset Crimebeat also acts as a focus for the
talents and expertise of so many different
people in the County who have an involvement in
these matters. The scheme empowers young people, with the right support, to foster community safety, encourages them to become responsible members of their community. Dorset Crimebeat offers a great chance for young people between the ages of 5 and 25 to show what they can do and how their project can help them and others in their area. The Dorset Crimebeat Scheme can make available a grant of up to £500 to assist in setting up a project, or we can operate a competition with prize money available to the winning groups. All Dorset Crimebeat projects are championed by the High Sheriff of the County, who each year is invited to submit one project to the National Crimebeat Awards. What are the National Crimebeat Awards? Every year the High Sheriff of each County submits the best example they have found of young people working to create safer communities. Young people in Dorset have an impressive track record of community safety work. The projects are judged against set criteria which emphasise the part played by young people themselves and the influence their work has had on other young people and the wider community. |
